1- What is left of it (the sheep)? She replied: Nothing is left except its shoulder. He said: All of it is left except its shoulder

2- Indeed, many women have come to the family of Muhammad complaining about their husbands. Those (men) are not the best among you

3- All rights will be restored on the Day of Judgment, until even the hornless sheep will settle its score with the horned one

4- The wealth of a man will not diminish by charity; Allah augments the honor of a man who endures an oppression patiently; and he who opens a gate of begging, Allah opens a gate of poverty

5- The example of a miser and a generous person is that of two men wearing two iron cloaks covering their breasts up to their collar bones

6- Allāhumma inni a‘ūdhu bika min al-‘ajzi wal-kasal, wal-jubni wal-bukhl, wal-harami wa ‘adhāb al-qabr. Allāhumma āti nafsi taqwāha, wa zakkiha anta khayru man zakkāha, anta waliyyuha wa mawlāha. Allāhumma inni a‘ūdhu bika min ‘ilmin la yanfa‘, wa min qalbin la yakhsha‘, wa min nafsin la tashba‘, wa min da‘watin la yustajābu laha" (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from inability, indolence, cowardice, miserliness, decrepitude, and torment of the grave. O Allah, grant me the sense of piety and purify my soul as You are the Best to purify it. You are its Protector and its Guardian. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from knowledge that is not beneficial, from a heart that does not fear, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered)

7- O Allah, I seek refuge in You from hunger, for it is an evil bed-fellow, and I seek refuge in You from treachery, for it is an evil hidden trait

8- Say: Allāhumma ikfini bihalālika ‘an harāmik waghnini bifadlika ‘amman siwāk (O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful against what You have made unlawful, and make me with Your bounty in no need of anyone besides You)

9- While a man was walking, dressed in fine clothes and admiring himself, with his hair well-combed

10- While we were on a journey with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) a man came while riding a mount of his

11- O Abu al-Hasan, how is the Messenger of Allah this morning? He said: He is feeling better this morning, by the grace of Allah

12- O Allah, I seek refuge with You from incapacity, laziness, cowardice, senility, and miserliness. And I seek refuge with You from the torment of the grave. And I seek refuge with You from the trials of life and death

13- When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) traveled, he would seek refuge from the hardships of the journey, from having a change of heart, adverse conditions replacing good ones, the prayer of an oppressed person, and from seeing a misfortune occurring to his family and wealth

14- The lonely rider is a devil, two riders are two devils and three are a traveling team

15- There are three to whom Allah will not speak on the Day of Judgment, nor will He purify them, and they will incur a painful punishment

16- When you travel through green lush land, give the camels their share from the ground, and when you travel through dry barren land, make them walk quickly before their strength falters

17- Travel during the night, for indeed, the land is folded up at night

18- When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) encamped to sleep at night during a journey, he would lie down on his right side, and when he wanted to sleep before dawn, he would extend his forearm and place his head on his palm

19- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to stick to the rear while traveling, urging the weak to walk quickly, letting some ride behind him, and making supplication for them

20- Whenever the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) mounted his camel while setting out on a journey, he would say Takbīr three times and then say: Glory be to the One who subdued this (ride) for us and we were not ourselves powerful enough to use it as a ride, and to our Lord we shall, indeed, return

21- O group of Muhājirūn and Ansār! There are among you such people who have no property and no kinsfolk. So let each one of you take along with him two or three men

22- When any one of you goes to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the end of his lower garment, for indeed he does not know what came unto it after he had left it

23- Seek refuge with Allah from arduous afflictions, degrading misery, preordained evils, and from the gloating of enemies

24- Food for two persons suffices for three, and food for three persons suffices for four

25- O Allah, verily I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Fire, the torment of the Fire, and from the evil of affluence and poverty

26- Fear Allah and say "Allah is the Greatest" upon every elevated place

27- Feed the hungry, visit the sick, and arrange for the release of captives

28- The superiority of the scholar over the worshiper is like my superiority over the lowest among you

29- Allāhumma qini ‘adhābaka yawma tajma‘u or tab‘athu ‘ibādak (O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the Day You gather or resurrect Your servants)

30- On sighting the new moon, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would say: O Allah, let this new moon appear on us with security and faith

31- When one-third of the night had passed, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would get up and call out: O people, remember Allah

32- Abu Bakr As-Siddīq (may Allah be pleased with him) had a slave who used to give him a portion of his daily income as the master's share. Abu Bakr used to eat the food bought with that share

33- Al-‘Adbā', the Prophet's she-camel, was never outrun

34- When we ascended (a high land), we used to say Takbīr, and when we descended, we used to say Tasbīh

35- O people, do not trouble yourselves too much. He Whom you are calling is not deaf or absent. Verily, He is with you, He is All-Hearing and Ever Near

36- No Muslim visits a (sick) Muslim early in the morning but seventy thousand angels send blessings upon him

37- Whoever acquires knowledge that should be pursued for the sake of Allah Almighty for the sole purpose of securing worldly gains shall not smell the ‘Arf of Paradise on the Day of Judgment

38- Whoever follows a path in pursuit of knowledge, Allah will facilitate for him a path to Paradise

39- Whoever says "there is no god but Allah, and Allah is Greatest," his Lord affirms it, saying: There is no god but Me, and I am Greatest

40- When Allah wants to punish a people, the punishment befalls whoever is among them, then they will be resurrected according to their deeds

41- Abu Sālih used to order us that if anyone of us wanted to sleep, he should lie on his right side

42- This is mercy that Allah, the Exalted, has placed in the hearts of His slaves. Verily, Allah shows mercy to those of His slaves who are merciful

43- If the slave draws closer to Me by a hand-span, I shall draw closer to him by a cubit; and if he draws closer to Me by a cubit, I shall draw closer to him by the span of two outstretched arms. If he comes to Me walking, I shall come to him running

44- While a man was walking on a path, he found a thorn branch on the road, so he put it aside. Allah, thus, thanked him and forgave him

45- Do not keep the farmland lest you should desire the world

46- This (line) represents man, and this (line) represents the end of his life, and while he is as such, the closest line overtakes him

47- The worst lie is when a man claims to have seen something which he has not seen

48- The one who boasts of receiving what he has not been given is like the one who has put on two garments of falsehood

49- It does not befit the truthful one to frequently curse others

50- Do not curse one another, invoking the curse of Allah or His wrath or the fire of Hell

51- Unload it and set it free, for it is cursed

52- Let the she-camel upon which curse has been invoked not accompany us

53- Oxus, Jaxartes, Euphrates, and the Nile are all from the rivers of Paradise

54- The devil said: By Your Might O Lord, I will continue to misguide Your slaves as long as their souls remain in their bodies. The Lord said: By My Might and My Majesty, I will continue to forgive them as long as they seek forgiveness from Me

55- Beware of the invocations of the oppressed person, for, indeed, they rise to heaven as if they were sparks of fire

56- Paradise and Hell argued with one another. Hell said: I have been assigned the arrogant and the tyrants. Paradise said: Why is it that only the weak, the insignificant, and the simple enter me?

57- Two gardens, the utensils and the contents of which are of silver; two other gardens, the utensils and the contents of which are of gold. Nothing will prevent people from looking at their Lord except the veil of pride over His Face in the Garden of Eden

58- Verily, in Paradise, there is a tree that the rider of a lean, swift horse would travel for a hundred years without reaching its end

59- Verily, in Paradise there is a market to which they will come every Friday

60- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) went out and supplicated for the martyrs of the battle of Uhud eight years after (their death), as if he was bidding farewell to the living and the dead

61- If anyone kills a gecko in the first strike will have one hundred good deeds recorded for him; and with the second strike lesser than that and with the third strike lesser than that

62- No woman among you loses three of her children to death except that they will screen her from Hellfire

63- Any Muslim who loses three of his children will not be touched by the Fire except in fulfillment of the oath

64- Any Muslim who loses (to death) three children before reaching puberty will be admitted by Allah into Paradise because of his being merciful to them

65- If a man says: People are ruined, he himself will be the most ruined among them all

66- When two people insult each other, the one who started will be the sinner until the oppressed exceeds the limits

67- A man was brought to him, and it was said: This is so-and-so, and his beard is dripping with wine. Thereupon he said: We have been prohibited from spying. However, if we see something evident, we will act upon it

68- It is unlawful for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three (days); so whoever abandons more than three then dies will enter the Hellfire

69- Verily, Allah tortures those who torture people in this world

70- Whoever beats his slave boy or slaps him for something that he has not done, then the expiation for that is to set him free

71- Why do you sit in pathways? Avoid sitting in pathways

72- The first to be judged on the Day of Judgment is a man who was martyred. He will be brought and Allah will remind him of His favor [upon him], which he will recognize. Allah will say: What did you do as a token of gratitude for that favor? He will say: I fought for Your sake until I was martyred

73- What do you think of a man who does a good deed and people praise him for it? He said: That is instant good news for the believer

74- The sanctity of the wives of the Mujāhids for those who stay behind is like the sanctity of their own mothers

75- I asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about the sudden glance, and he commanded me to avert my gaze

76- Cover the vessels, fasten the waterskins, close the doors, and extinguish the lamps, for, indeed, the devil does not loosen waterskins, nor open doors, nor uncover vessels

77- O people, he who knows about something, let him say it. And he who does not know should say: Allah knows best. It is part and parcel of knowledge that a man who does not know something should say: Allah knows best

78- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that a man wears his shoes while standing

79- Do not curse the fever, for it removes the sins of the children of Adam the same way the bellows remove the impurities of iron

80- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) commanded licking the fingers and the dish (after eating), and he said: You do not know in which portion the blessing lies

81- May the fasting people break their fast in your house, and may the righteous eat your food, and may the angels ask forgiveness and mercy for you

82- Verily, Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people; rather, He takes away knowledge with the death of the scholars

83- Should I not feel shy of a man whom the angels feel shy of?

84- If anyone says "I ask forgiveness from Allah, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I turn to Him in repentance," his sins will be forgiven even if he has fled from the battlefield

85- Recite the Qur’an, for on the Day of Judgment it will come as an intercessor for those who recite it

86- Verily, what I fear for you is a man who recites the Qur’an until its brightness appears on him and he becomes a support of Islam. (This continues) until this man changes his state to what Allah wills. He detaches himself from it and throws it behind his back. Then he starts attacking his neighbor with the sword, accusing him of polytheism

87- Allah selected Kinānah from the children of Isma‘īl, Quraysh from Kinānah, the children of Hāshim from Quraysh, and me from the children of Hāshim. So I am the master of the children of Adam, without pride. And I am the first for which the earth will be split open, and I am the first intercessor, and the first to be granted intercession

88- The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) invoked evil on the tribe of Banu Sulaym for one month after rising from Rukū‘ in prayer

89- Fātimah is a piece of me, so whoever makes her angry makes me angry

90- Every nation has an extremely trustworthy man, and the most trustworthy man of this Ummah is Abu ‘Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrāh

91- Every prophet had a disciple and my disciple is Az-Zubayr

92- Az-Zubayr is the son of my paternal aunt and a disciple among my followers

93- Offer this prayer at this time and that prayer at that time. When the time for a prayer is due, let one of you call the Adhān, and let the one who knows the Qur’an most lead the prayer

94- O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my sight, light in my hearing, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, light below me, light in front of me, light behind me, make light for me

95- If one of you is invited to a wedding banquet, he should attend

96- The worst food is the food of a wedding banquet to which the rich are invited while the poor are left out. Anyone who does not answer the invitation has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him)

97- If anyone of you is invited, let him answer the invitation. If he is fasting, let him supplicate (for the inviter); if he is not fasting, let him eat

98- Blessing descends in the middle of the food. So eat from the sides, and do not eat from the middle

99- the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) allocated two days to ‘Ā’ishah; her own day and that of Sawdah

100- The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to ask in his final illness: Where will I be tomorrow? Where will I be tomorrow? He was looking forward to ‘Ā'ishah's turn [to stay with her]. So, his wives allowed him to stay wherever he wished
